The New Cognitive Landscape examines key cognitive shifts, including the product–process divide, Bloom’s Taxonomy in the AI era, cognitive offloading versus scaffolding, and why AI can feel unclear in educational practice. Boosting Critical Thinking & Analysis focuses on using AI to increase student thinking through tools such as the Socratic chatbot, multi-perspective analysis, the Hallucination Hunt, and moving from output to judgement. Enhancing Metacognition & Self-Regulated Learning positions AI as a support for executive functioning, reflection, and self-monitoring, including AI as a thinking mirror and reflective journaling. Fostering Creative & Integrative Thinking emphasizes idea sparking, interdisciplinary synthesis, and iterative prototyping while keeping human judgement central.
